  • Jana Sled-Board Member

Jana Sled joined the Panther Foundation Board in 2023. She grew up in Camas, Washington, where she participated in basketball, softball, volleyball, track and dance. Before moving to Washougal in 2011, Jana taught elementary school in California for ten years. She returned to her roots to give her two boys, now a freshman and a senior, the opportunities she enjoyed growing up in a small town. Her boys participate in cross country, soccer, tennis, and Boy Scouts of America.

Jana brings enthusiasm, energy, experience, and skill as she tirelessly serves the community and schools in various volunteer positions. She has volunteered countless hours of her time running the Washougal Youth Basketball Program since 2017. In addition, she has coached youth soccer and basketball while also being an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts, and organizing fundraising for Washougal High School.

Her favorite sport growing up was volleyball. She turned down a college scholarship to New York in favor of her alma mater. Her favorite sports memory growing up was playing in five sets “the longest volleyball match ever” against Hudson Bay High School and stopping them from moving on to districts. Following the match, she received a phone call from a Mountain View player asking who won. There was screaming in the background as the entire team heard the news that Mountain View would now be going on to districts.

As a school teacher and coach, Jana is passionate about her work with the youth. Being on the board will help achieve her goal of teaching the youth in the community the skills to successfully compete in team sports, while at the same time enjoying positive and fun experiences as they gain confidence in themselves.
